The King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan attended the Kolkata Film Festival over the weekend and remarked that having been in the industry for more than 20 years, he has never received a national accolade for his films at festivals.

During his address at the Kolkata Film Festival, the megastar said that he has been invited to several film festivals to perform or host but has never had the opportunity to showcase his movies at such events.

“I have done 70 films so far, but the only reason film festivals call me is either to dance or come and just speak about welcoming the delegates and being nice to people, and not do anything intellectual.” He added that perhaps the reason behind this is that he is not very intelligent or smart but that has changed now.

“Reason for that is I am not very intelligent and I am not very smart but I am now smarter and more intelligent after getting to spearhead the Kolkata Knight Riders for 12 years. So, maybe in the next 10 years, there will come a time, when one of my films will get selected for an international festival of this kind of rating,” the Om Shanti Om star said.

SRK was awarded a special award at the KIFF and he thanked the festival as well the West Bengal Minister, Mamata Banerjee for giving him the crystal trophy. He playfully added that he is certain none of his films will ever be showcased at such film festivals however, he intends to share his movie, Zero’s trailer with the audience.

The upcoming movie, Zero’s trailer was also played while the star was present and garnered positive feedback from the audience. The film is slated for release on December 21, 2018.
