Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi is a name that needs no introduction. In his 23-year long cricketing career, Shahid — popularly known as — ‘Boom Boom’ ‘Lala’ or ‘Afridi’, has made various records. The first ever memoir about him, Game Changer, is being released on April 30 and is a one-on-one account penned by multimedia journalist Wajahat S. Khan.

In this book, one of Pakistan’s most accomplished yet controversial cricket star talks about his passion for the sport, his rags to riches story and the scandals associated with them. Starting his sports career at the age of 16 in 1996, he was chosen to play in an ODI match as a replacement for Mushtaq Ahmed due to his injury and from that day on, there was no looking back.

An all-rounder, Afridi has many achievements to his name; he has the highest record of wickets in T20 International cricket (T20I) matches with 98 out of 99 to his name, he holds the distinction of hitting the most sixes in the history of ODI cricket and has received the highest number of ‘Man of the Match’ awards in T20I to name but a few. Although the cricketer announced his retirement from international cricket in May 2018, he is still playing domestic cricket.

Game Changer is an amalgamation of his successes and failures and it is a book not only for his fans but also for people who enjoy cricket. The book which is open for pre-order is set to release on April 30 and will be available at Liberty Books.
