Shamaeel in her studio after a ‘wipe-out’ day!

The question is, why would anyone want to spend more or even as much on an inferior label when you can get true-blue-blood fashion at the atelier of Shamaeel? This Autumn Winter collection was a diverse extension of Shamaeel’s signature: knotted casual tunics, heavily embroidered couture pieces and light, trendy formals which were snapped up by her fans before you could say ‘go’!

Contemporary feminine chic at its very best!

The prints in the formal pieces were an extension of the miniature series; this time depicting Chugtai art. While the silhouettes were still loose and flowing there was an emphasis on the waistline (even drop waists) and some semblance of shape and structure.

Classic, handcrafted couture pieces

The collection also included heavier couture pieces, which Shamaeel has been taking orders on too. This tinsel-worked shirt was especially breath-taking, traditional in its approach while modern in its ethos.

Since Shamaeel doesn’t stock consistently anywhere in Pakistan and even her runway appearances have been limited since FPW has been shelved, one doesn’t see too much of her genius. But every now and then she holds an exhibition as a reminder of why she remains to be one of Pakistan’s strongest designers. This exhibition will now be traveling to Lahore. Whatever is left of it, that is!
