Two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has recently introduced her Aagahi series, which is a bid to raise awareness on societal issues in Pakistan. This week, the series focuses on domestic violence in its second episode, which is divided in two parts.

Exploring the various types of offences that women, men and children face every day, the animated short looks at how important it is to identify and discuss issues of abuse, which are often kept under wraps because of fear. The video in its entirety serves to give proper guidance over issues of sexual and psychological abuse, as well as economic abuse, which often is sidelined in Pakistan.

Part of the 14 animated shorts that will be released under the SOC Films banner – out of which the first episode focused on how to register an FIR – the infotainment videos are narrated in Urdu by Aaminah Sheikh, while it is also available in other languages. The aim of the videos is to explain and clarify the stipulations that affect women and to raise awareness regarding their availability in the country
