“I had actually lost hope,” Shehla told us with a laugh, “since this was the seventh time we were nominated.”

Shehla Chatoor made her lawn debut last year. Her signature style has always been purely luxurious, with inspirations from cultural themes and her lawn debut last year also played on that signature aesthetic with luxurious pure silk dupattas and additional embellishments. With Nargis Fakhri as her brand ambassador and a collection that was second to none, it was a cinch for bagging nominations. Sure enough, this year marked Shehla’s first nomination in the Best Lawn category at the LSAs. This was also Shehla’s seventh nomination for luxury pret and seven did definitely turn out to be her lucky number as she picked up the award at the sparkling ceremony!

We asked her if she had expected to win an award this time. “Well for lawn this was our first time, so I wasn’t too sure about that.” Shehla told us how designing lawn was a learning experience for her, and this year she would be upping the ante even further.

When speaking of the Lux Style Awards Shehla agreed that this was a great platform to provide encouragement and motivation to everyone, “And I’m not just saying that because I won!” she clarified. We were also told that this time Shehla chose to stay away from styling too many celebrities for the red carpet, “I’ve realized we can’t be over-exposed; we’ve dressed so many stars in the past and this time I chose to stay away from it.” That said, winner Best Emerging Talent Hira Shah and well known model Hira Tareen both looked spectacular in iconic Shehla Chatoor ensembles at the event.

Back to lawn, Shehla’s lawn collection for 2017 is going to be out next month and will be shot in Europe. Although we have already overdosed on designer lawn, we still cannot wait for this one!
