Fashion Hunger Games begin: may the odds be in your favour!

There's something Maheen Khan said when I met her two weeks ago: "I love fashion weeks because that's a time when we designers stop thinking about sales and start thinking about concept. It channels us towards creativity." When we were one: Rizwan Beyg will be kick starting his own SHOWCASE (today), which will undoubtedly be well planned and impressive given his obsession with perfectionism whereas Maheen Khan will be reviving Fashion Pakistan Week next week. As they say in The Hunger Games: May the odds be forever in your favour! Colour and Style at Xander’s

(L-R) Umair Tabani, fashion's new and very welcome addition, Adnan Pardesy looking for a plus-one, Maheen Karim in an unexpected ethnic avatar, Kiran Aman sporting a chic new haircut, Sanam Chaudhri in her Deepak ki lawn and Rukaiya who looks stunning though not too happy here! Planned at the picturesque Port Grande, the savvy new waterside food street in Karachi that would remind one of Singapore's Clark Quay if it could whip up a club scene, the shoot was coordinated and styled by Maha Burney and her artistic husband...

Sania Maskatiya opens flagship store in Karachi

It's been a long time since I saw so many blow dries in the confines of one singular space. In lay man terms, it's been a long time since I've seen so many Louboutins, Chanel bags, blow dries and fineries (LV shawls) dripping from women clamouring to get their hands on fashion. Yes, we're fast approaching the lawn season and nothing gets Pakistani women going more than lawn, but to true fashion lovers there is rarely a sight more pleasurable than pret a porter flying off the racks. And boy, was it flying! The mad rush at the launch. Indus Valley graduate Sania Maskatiya, who stepped into fashion with her label Chamak a couple of years ago and then...
