Haseeb Hasan’s Alif is one of the most anticipated serials of the year as it marks the return of Hamza Ali Abbasi to the small screen since Mann Mayal, and that too alongside Sajal Aly. However, the show is saturated with star power, featuring Kubra Khan, Ahsan Khan, Manzar Sehbai, Sadaf Kanwal, Osman Khalid Butt and many more in key roles.

The excitement went at an all time high last week when Geo TV released two teasers introducing lead characters — Qalb e Momin and Momina Sultan — played by Hamza and Sajal respectively. Recently Kubra Khan shared another teaser that introduces her character, Husn e Jahan, and shows us a glimpse of the world of Alif, bringing up again the long standing question: the love for God versus the love for a woman.

Kubran Khan looks beautiful in each frame. Ahsan Khan as Taha Abdul Ala, blends perfectly in the Turkish landscapes. His arguments about religion and God with his father played by Manzar Sehbai are one to watch out for. Alif is being projected as the most unexpected romance of the year, and it appears it is delivering on the claim. In the third teaser, we see yet again a clash of two different worlds that are powered by love.

It appears that Taha will fall in love with Husn e Jahan, who is a dancer. His father may have reservations on his inclination towards worldly matters of love. We already know that Kubra is playing Hamza Ali Abbasi’s mother in the play and now by putting two and two together, the premise is becoming more clear. Ironically, it seems Abdul Ala’s grandson, Qalb e Momin will become all that he feared for his son.

Produced by Sana Shahnawaz and Samina Humayun Saeed, Alif will air on GEO TV soon.
