The Legend of Maula Jatt

The wait is finally over for the most anticipated Pakistani film made in recent years; Bilal Lashari’s magnum opus The Legend of Maula Jatt has an official release date now.

In true Maula Jatt style, the filmmaker and producer of the film made the big announcement on Wednesday as they revealed the first teaser poster featuring the iconic gandasa, along with the release date of the film. The Legend of Maula Jatt will release in theatres all over Pakistan on October 13, 2022.

Directed by Bilal Lashari, known for his directorial debut and box office mega hit Waar, The Legend of Maula Jatt is touted to be the most expensive film to come out of Pakistan so far. This intense and epic hero origin story, with a screenplay by Bilal Lashari and dialogues by Nasir Adeeb, is a hard reboot of the 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt.

The film’s first look teaser was released in 2019; following many speculations and controversies, even four years later, the film has managed to remain one of the most anticipated Pakistani movies ever. The teaser received a thunderous response for its exceptional star cast, engrossing characters, cinematic grandeur and top notch production value.

Starring Fawad Khan in the role of the legendary Maula Jatt and Hamza Ali Abbasi as his arch nemesis, Noori Natt, the film reimagines cinema’s greatest rivalry. The ensemble cast also features Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Shafqat Cheema and Nayyer Ejaz.

The film is produced by Ammara Hikmat under the joint venture of Encyclomedia & Lashari films in association with AAA Motion Pictures. The filmmakers have partnered with Geo Films as their presenting partner. The film will be locally distributed by Nadeem Mandviwalla of Mandviwalla Entertainment. Internationally, the film will be distributed by MovieGoers Entertainment.

The makers have chosen a non-holiday release for the film which is going to be Fawad Khan’s comeback appearance on the big screen and we certainly hope it pays back in huge box office numbers.
