Perhaps it’s Anam Tanoli’s suicide or may be it’s the intense trolling (and some times even bullying) that celebrities face on social media that led Mahira Khan to send out a very pertinent message during her speech at Day Three of PLBW last night.

Mahira, who is the brand ambassador of L’Oreal, made an appearance on the final day of PLBW just as she did the previous year. “Last year around this time, I stood here and my knees were shaking. Today my hands are shaking,” she said before jokingly adding, “It’s a shaky affair.”

She went on to explain how she was nervous last year around this time, presumably because it was her first public appearance after her pictures with Ranbir Kapoor caused a storm. “I was nervous because it was weird time in my life. I stood here and said you must not allow anyone to define you, if there’s anybody who should, it should be yourself,” she said.

“One year on my perspective has changed a little bit,” Mahira said before continuing. “It’s very easy to pick on people. I think we can all do with a little bit of sensitivity… We live in a world where it’s so important to think before we speak, think before we comment, think before we judge, please let’s be better. Let’s uplift each other. Women uplift women. Men uplift men. Men uplift women, women uplift men.”
