2018 seems to be offering a lot in terms of entertainment from Bollywood after it faced a lull all of last year. Starting with Sanju ruling the box office, Sacred Games becoming one of the most critically acclaimed shows on Netflix and Kajol making her much-awaited comeback with Helicopter Eela, there’s definitely more in store for us. Now, Anurag Kashyap, after ruling Netflix has come out with another entertainer titled ‘Manmarziyaan’ starring Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Tapsee Pannu in the main leads.

The trailer starts with a fun disclaimer which goes like, ‘Yeh paishkash hai humarey young doston ke liye jo pyar nahi vyar karte hain.’ That statement alone gave us enough sense that this movie is a quirky take on a love story much like Dev D, which we think is written all over it even if it wasn’t initially mentioned in the trailer.

The soundtrack looks fun and so does Abhishek’s avatar as a Sikh which doesn’t look consistent for reasons unknown. As seen in the trailer, it appears to be a love triangle between the three actors and their character names are rather unique for an Indian film. The dialogues are bold and so are some scenes but in a nutshell, it best describes a situation with a commitment-phobic partner as played by Vicky and an obsessive, madly in love girl played by Rumi.

Does Robbie appear as a saviour or as a reality check? We don’t know yet but we’re definitely excited for this one to release next month on September 14th.

Dev D, though not everyone’s cup of tea was a roller coaster ride of emotions and Manmarziyaan looks just that.
