Gharara Dresses

PSFW

Gharara will always be the rage due to its deep-rooted cultural value, but contemporary designers have increased its style quotient by adding modern quirks to it. We spotted a mustard yellow gharara dress as part of Zara Shahjahan’s Adaab collection.

Retro Fusion

PSFW

Retro fashion trends fizzle out for a while and then make an even better comeback every time. Zaha and Saira Shakira were two brands which brought dots, stripes and animal prints back in the style game without making them look dated. It cannot get better than fun animal prints paired with round sunglasses or a chic combo of polka dots and stripes in sophisticated silhouettes.

Embellished Belted Bags

PSFW

Belt bags (cross-body or fanny packs) have made a huge comeback this year. What’s distinct this time is wearing it around your waist is so chic when paired with an ethnic outfit. Fret not, Zara Shahjahan and Fahad Hussayn approve it!

Draping Styles

PSFW

Eastern silhouettes are also getting modern twists. All hail to stylists who are introducing celebrities to new and versatile draping styles of saris as well as dupattas and dresses. You can accentuate your waistline, drape the pallu around your neck or simply replace a petticoat with a pant, the options are innumerable. Sania Maskatiya, Zaha and Kamiar Rokni tried a few and we give them a thumbs up!

Sheer Magic

PSFW

During every fashion week, we always keep our eyes open for the most wearable trends, however, we also keep tabs on statements that have a certain shock factor. This time we saw designers such as Zara Shahjahan opting for ultra-sheer dresses in eastern wear. Using organza primarily with embroidered motifs or gota work on transparent base, this trend looks chic and au courant.

Keep those colours saturated!

PSFW

While Chapter 2 paved way for colour blocking in all kinds of shades — subtle or striking — Kamiar opted for tie and dye varieties. Saturated colour palettes are working right now, so keep incorporating power shades in your spring wardrobe. Feed the demand for newness with hot colour pairings such as neons and reds or caramel and green.

Bandanas are big

PSFW

Granted, a new throwback trend doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering the nostalgia we have been experiencing in the fashion sphere lately. But don’t grab the usual paisley print bandanas now; take note from Sana Safinaz that the trend is getting a chic facelift. In place of actual headgear, we now use printed silk scarves putting just the right amount of a vintage vibe to the look.
