Amidst all the controversies surrounding the Mahira Khan and Haroon Shahid starrer Verna, there’s finally a ray of hope. Scheduled to release uncut, the Shoaib Mansoor directorial seems to have finally been given the green light by the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC).

According to sources and wide media speculation, Verna will release on its scheduled date, 17 November 2017, without any major cuts to the narrative. Although the film is still awaiting a go-ahead from the Sindh Censor Board, it may be exhibited to the public today.

The film landed in hot waters previously due to an alleged negative portrayal of the government officials in the film, which lead to the ban. However, after a strong reaction from the industry and public alike, the film was allowed to run as-is.

Mahira also took to Twitter to voice her opinion about the whole situation.

“Tonight I realize how powerful artists are, not those in power. We are. Why else do we get banned? Why else do our films pose a threat to them? In this game of power – we will always win. Art/love/truth always does! #PowerDiGame,” Mahira wrote.
