Bilal Abbas Khan and Madiha Imam have stolen hearts with a glimpse of their performances in the trailer of Zee5’s upcoming TV series, Ek Jhoothi Love Story and viewers are excited for the fun-filled ride. Bilal and Madiha play Sohail and Salma respectively in this Mehreen Jabbar’s directorial in which the two made fake profiles on social media to have some harmless fun. What happens next will only be revealed once the series is out on 30th October and while we wait for it, here is a candid interview of the lead pair.

Bilal and Madiha talked about rishta aunties, life on social media and matchmaking. Here are a few highlights from the interview:

1. Hypothetically, if both of them sign up on a dating application, what would they look for in a potential dating partner?

“I think I am attracted to a charismatic personality but that would be hard to find through just a picture,” Madiha said. Bilal hesitantly opened up insisting that he would never be on a dating app. “I would want to be comfortable while interacting with someone. I find intellect more attractive quality,” he added.

2. How difficult it is to do comedy in the current socio-political climate when there is always a chance that you’ll offend someone?

“I think we have no comic punches in the narrative but it is more like situational comedy in this TV series. As Madia said earlier that we are trying to address some serious social issues in a light-hearted manner so we have not tried to make people laugh on purpose but they will have a hearty laugh on those relatable situations,” Bilal said.

3. Which is your favourite character, other than yourself, in the show?

“The character played by Beo Zafar. She is Salma’s (Madiha) mother. Her coming timing is impeccable and her real-life personality reflects on screen,” Bilal said.

Madiha laughingly added that her answer is going to be very narcissistic because she loves Salma. “Man, this little girl. She is total opposite to who I am. She is so cute and so sad and somebody needs to help her,” Madiha said.

4. What are some of the problems they have faced on sets that eventually affect their work?

“I personally appreciate if there is a good vibe on the set. It doesn’t matter if you’re good friends with your co-actors or not, but there should be a sound and comfortable environment. I don’t depend on it but it makes work more easier and enjoyable,” Bilal said adding, “I don’t like when someone lives in their own bubble and don’t even step out of it while performing.”

Madiha emphasized on the same. “I am okay with the fact if my co-actors on not my friends and if we don’t have long friendly chats. What I don’t like is when a person has a big head. Also, lack of discipline is also a big no for me. Why can’t people be punctual on sets?,” she asked rhetorically.
