Danial Afzal Khan aka Nomi from Raaz-e-Ulfat became talk of the town because his character intrigued audiences. Now the drama has reached heights of success and is trending at the top 3 spots on YouTube every week, Danial is overwhelmed and surprised with its phenomenal success. Not many know that Danial was a part of 2016’s horror film Aksbandh which was a decent film for its time.

Something Haute got in touch with the actor to know more about him. Here are the excerpts from the interview:

Tell us about your foray into the industry?

“My debut project was Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewa. The role was registered but I looked completely different in it; I was 96kg at that time. Then I took a break to complete my education and during that I got a chance to be a VJ at Play TV. That helped me a lot because it used to be a 3-camera shoot with no co-host. Then after the movie, I thought that family is happy and I have finished my education so let’s just jump in, then gave auditions and did a few projects of Geo, HUM TV and ARY,” Danial said.

Raaz-e-Ulfat is undoubtedly his breakthrough project, how does it feel?

“I was expecting this kind of response for another project that I did one and a half years back but it didn’t get the recognition because the timings clashed with another big project. However, I thought that was my big break as I feel I performed really well in it,” he added.

How did he land a role in Raaz-e-Ulfat?

“I had worked with our director Siraj ul Haq two years back. So I unexpectedly got a call from Siraj bhai and we offered me the role but I was not in Karachi. I had some family commitments and I said that I can only come after 10 days. Anyways, Siraj bhai was very keen to sign me for this role so I reached after 10 days and the role was mine,” he shared.

What did he think about Nomi when he read the script?

“I realized while reading the script that I will have a lot of margin to perform as Nomi. Though I’m not good at remembering lines, I have good command on Urdu so I usually improvise within the context of my dialogues if I forget my lines. Nomi has long dialogues so I felt I would be able to play it,” he said while clarifying that Nomi is bisexual and he never assaulted Sehba.
