Ruling the television screen for over two decades, Humayun Saeed is now the king of celluloid in Pakistan as well. The actor has also received Pride of Performance award this 14th August and Something Haute didn’t leave the opportunity to have a chat with the actor after this new feather in his cap.

Here are a few excerpts from the interview:

2020 may have proved to be a good year for you, despite the horrors of a pandemic, as your drama Meray Paas Tum Ho was a phenomenal success and now you’ve received Pride of Performance. Your thoughts?

“Yes, 2020 has proven to be a difficult year for all of us but these two achievements have made it better. I am grateful to Allah for His blessings. I would also like to thank everyone I have worked with from the moment I joined this industry, be it writers, directors, actors and even the public who has appreciated and loved all my work till date,” he said.

It is a rarity to see unanimous praise whenever a civil award is announced in the country; every time a controversy surrounds it. Your case is totally opposite, how?

“I never thought I would get a Pride of Performance. I used to believe that one must do something extraordinarily great to receive it and even then you get it when you turn old. But I have received genuine praise and love from all quarters; everyone who called me, be it my fellow actors wished me wholeheartedly. I believe that I have received it at the right time because earlier I may have received criticism too. I think the success of Meray Paas Tum Ho has contributed a lot to get to this stage,” Humayun added.

What are some of the milestones in his 24-year long career?

Initially, some of my telefilms were quite great like Zeher, Ab Tum Ja Saktay Ho, Peela Jora, Na Janay Kya Hogaya. There were a few serials during that time that made me popular in the audience. Later, I got Samina Peerzada’s film, Inteha followed by Mehndi, Daam, Doraha, Ishq Junoon Deewangi. Then I took a break as I was quite busy in productions and then I did Ijazat and Kaafir. After that I got involved in films with Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi,” he said.

“If you look at my career graph, I have done Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (JPNA) which was a blockbuster and then I moved on to Dil Lagi, I proved all the naysayers wrong who said that film actors can’t be television actors or vice versa. Later, I did two back to back hits Punjab Nahi Jaungi and JPNA 2 and then gave Meray Paas Tum Ho. So, I love acting be it for films or television,” Humayun added.
