Model and influencer Merub Ali has just made her acting debut on television with a star-studded project like Sinf-e-Aahan. While she is loved for playing Yumna Zaidi’s sister in the drama and received a lot of appreciation within a night after the first episode aired, Merub is quite interested to play a polar opposite character in future.

In a conversation with Hassan Choudary of Something Haute, Merub revealed that she would to play a role where she shows her anger.

“I want to play a angry character; I enjoyed it a lot when I had to be play angry during Sinf e Aahan’s shoot. So, I released my anger there,” she said.

Merub hasn’t followed many Pakistani dramas but she has seen Pyar Ke Sadqay, Alif, Meray Paas Tum Ho and a lot of dramas of Gul e Rana. So, would she be willing to do dramas where women are portrayed in a stereotypical way.

“I was offered a few scripts before but they were all stories where sisters were fighting each other. They wanted me to play a wife’s role; I’m a 19-year-old girl, how will a play a wife? I think if Sinf e Aahan can be made, then there are stories that can be explored. I would love to do rona dhona [damsel roles] but not the typical one where a woman is being beaten,” she said.

Merub also had a suggestion about television scripts. “Even if you want to make a drama on a typical subject then portray it in a negative light. Do not normalize abuse like when we see that the girl returns to her husband even after she is beaten. This is bad grooming for the new generation because the youth is now watching television.”

On a concluding note, Merub spoke about the innumerable comments about her bond with Asim Azhar.

“We’re not cousins, we are not step-siblings. I read somewhere that I have a second mother!!! No, I only have a mother and father. We’re great family friends; we know each other since childhood, my brother is his best friend, our mothers are best friends, that’s just about it,” she laughingly said.
