We believe in man-hating feminism, says Amna Ilyas

With Parwaaz Hai Junoon out of the running and Salman Khan’s Race 3 out of the race (excuse the lame pun) of Eid releases, Meenu and Farjad’s 7 Din Mohabbat In is emerging the hot favourite film releasing this Eid. We already have enough reasons to want to watch it – the comic, fun plot and the star cast featuring Mahira Khan, Sheheryar Munawar, Mira Sethi, Amna Ilyas, Hina Dilpazir and Jawed Sheikh for starters – and it’s Amna’s character that is giving us added incentive.

Amna’s character Ghazala is part of a very interesting, man-hating group called ‘Auratzaat Ki Laat’. Here’s what she had to say about it when we last spoke…

“I think it is a very, very interesting character because you haven’t seen someone like Ghazala on screen before, at least not in Pakistan,” she said. “This is a person who hates men. My friends and I have a gang, which is called ‘Auratzaat Ki Laat’ and we believe in man-hating feminism. I’m the chota in that group, the handler, kind of like Circuit was to Munna Bhai. So while I’m hoping that people will like the character, women will for sure, I also think some – especially men – may take offense to it.”

Is Ghazala one of the girls Tipu tries to fall in love with?

“Yes, yes but I think I’m the only one who will give him some tough time in the film and you have to watch the film to see it and understand the whole character and dynamics of my relationship, Ghazala’s relationship with Tipu.”

We’re looking forward to it. Are you?
