Before one can even comment on what Project Ghazi‘s trailer looks like, credit must be given to the producers of the film for finally thinking out of the box. Pakistan is ready to release its first superhero film ever created and it boasts a star cast of some very prominent names: Humayun Saeed, Syra Shahroz and Sheheryar Munawer.

In an evening that commenced fairly on time, Project Ghazi‘s trailer was unveiled to a crowd that comprised journalists, bloggers and photographers. Director Nadir Shah and producer Ali Raza were present along with the cast to answer any questions which journalists might have had. “Of course it’s challenging to attempt a film of this genre,” spoke Nadir. “A superhero film requires resource and technology which we don’t have access to. But that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible; it can be done. If this venture is successful, then it will pave the way for more superhero films in the future.”

Syra Shahroz is proving to be very progressive in terms of the films she’s choosing for herself. We earlier saw her in Chalay Thay Saath, a film that was definitely not an average masala film, the kind that does well on the box office. Now, Syra is all set to play the role of a scientist, who later has some butt kicking action in the film as well, in Project Ghazi. Remaining tightlipped about the details of her character, Syra commented on how she had already gotten a chance to play her “dream role.” I’m so honoured that I’m getting a chance to do something like this so early in my career. I’m playing the role of a scientist, which is something one doesn’t get to do that often. My character is very intelligent and independent and it feels great to be doing this role,” she shared with the audience.

Project Ghazi

Syra Shahroz, Sheheryar Munawer and Humayun Saeed took the stage to talk about their upcoming film, Project Ghazi.

Sheheryar Munawer took the time to thank Humayun Saeed for taking up this role. “Many senior stars have a problem sharing screen space with another actor but there were no such issues here.” This made us realize that all three stars have an equally important role in the film.

Humayun shared that he was proud to be part of an ISPR funded project that was nationalist in nature but it did not target hate towards anyone. “To be able to deliver a clean message that does not incite hatred is a big deal and I’m glad to be a part of this narrative,” he shared earnestly.

The trailer reveals a lot of action sequences that revolve around the lives of a few soldiers involved in Project Ghazi. We were expecting to see some flying action but found the trailer to be devoid of such scenes. But the director himself did say that the film has a semi-realistic feel to it, which is why we won’t be seeing the stars flying all over the place. That’s probably a smart decision because we need to polish our technical skills before attempting something like that.

The film is all set to be released on July 14th and we are anxiously waiting for its release!
