The trailer of Veere Di Wedding, starring Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, released on May 25 and got everyone talking.

Judging by the humour of four friends and their roller-coaster adventure, the movie seems quite interesting; it’s the Indian version of Sex & the City, you might say. However, the question arises – will Veere Di Wedding see the light of the day in Pakistan or even uncut in India – as people are already protesting its adult humour and explicit dialogues.

According to a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) spokesperson the language heard in the trailer is unacceptable, Deccan Chronicle has reported. “I don’t know which section of India’s 20-something female population talks like this. And for what purpose? I wouldn’t like to say much. But to hear Anil Kapoor’s daughter and Kareena Kapoor Khan talk like this is not very encouraging. They have a huge fan following. Is this the example they want to set?”

Uh, we don’t remember anyone having an issue with Delhi Belly?

Anyway, news has it that the producers Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor are not in favour of any changes in the movie (as in cleaning up the dialogues) and are thus contemplating giving it an adult or A certificate. Now that does seem more reasonable.

The release is exactly a month away and we don’t know which way our Censor Board will swing and whether the film will release in Pakistan at all; we have seen a subtle muting out of all expletives from Hollywood productions and by that standard Veere Di Wedding may be released as a silent film in Pakistan.

We’ll keep you posted on updates on the situation. Meanwhile, we know that Bollywood aficionados are already planning trips to Dubai to watch it.
