Sonam Kapoor has proven her mettle time and again with films like Neerja and Raanjhanaa. So naturally, with her next film, Padman also being an example of a topic-centric film, she’s not taking any slack for being asked if the films she does are ‘chick-flicks.’ For one journalist, this became an awkward conversation real quick with Sonam when they asked the dreaded question.

Speaking to an Indian publication, when asked about her upcoming film with Kareena Kapoor, Veere Di Wedding and whether it’s a chick-flick, Sonam was quick to respond and give a shut up call.

“Don’t call it that! It’s so bad. There’s no such thing as chick flicks. Do you call a hero’s film a stud film? No, right? It’s so tacky,” she said.

The actress also spoke about the kind of roles she would and would never do, after spending a decade in the industry.

“I won’t play just a hot girl in a song. I won’t be doing such a role because it will be a waste of my time,” Sonam said. “If I’m playing a Biro or Bittu, I would rather do that because there’s an arc to the character and it makes a difference to the story. It’s not about the screen time but what you do in that screen time. I’d rather do that than three songs and two scenes in a film.”
