When we talk about Eid outfits, all we think is luxe fabrics, embellishments, embroideries and bling! But does it always have to be so extravagant? Zara Shahjahan tends to disagree and we second the idea. Keeping in mind the summer season in Pakistan, the festive occasion can be celebrated with subtle shades that have only a hint of shimmer and sheen.

Let’s give a break to vibrant hues at least for one day out of the three-day festivity, tone down the colour palette and focus more on beautiful textures and design techniques to add that oomph factor to your Eid apparels. Zara Shahjahan’s Eid collection — Saat Afsanay — encapsulates all that and more by using vintage motifs and ethnic styles instead of heavy embellishments. The improvised yarn is pure comfort yet classy at the same time.

We noticed that four designs outshine the Eid collection this year and here’s a rundown of what we loved about them.

Back to basics

Zara Shahjahan

Who doesn’t love a plain monochrome kurta or angrakha with churidaar or white shalwar? Indeed it reminds us of good old days and is reminiscent of our grandmothers. Zara Shahjahan has introduced chanderi in the mix. With sorbet shades of cedar green, turquoise, hot pink, Tuscany yellow, these loose-fit kurtas are perfect for the hot weather paired with a malmal undershirt. All of these come with customized bandhini printed tissue silk dupattas which are a catch!

Florals and paisley patterns

Florals are a signature print at Zara Shahjahan and it is one recurrent theme that we can’t seem to get enough of every season. For Eid, the brand has added sophisticated embellishments such as light gota work, sequins, mukesh or pleats over the raw silk or cambric block-printed fabric. The vintage floral and paisley patterns give the kurtas a traditional feel. All these ensembles are complemented with luxe pure silk dupattas.

Ralli work

These complex geometrical designs crafted and stitched to perfection are popularly known as ralli work. These designs are a perfect fusion of fashion and tradition; hence Eid is an ideal time to don one. Saat Afsanay has ralli designs in four shades – pale yellow and aquamarine, ice blue and salmon pink – paired with beautiful dupattas with gold scalloping on hems, crochet and pearl details and gota work.

The collection also features beautiful schiffli pieces over chambray fabric in a combination of white and denim blue hues. The delicate ensembles are paired with pristine white exquisite organza-jacquard dupattas.
