English singer Zayn Malik is trending on social media yet again. Shots of Zayn’s interview with British Vogue went viral recently where the singer has revealed that he doesn’t call himself a Muslim anymore. As the singer enjoys a loyal fan base in Pakistan due to his lineage, his recent comments have not gone down well with some of his fans.

Speaking about his faith, the musician is quoted as saying in Vogue, “To be honest, I’ve never spoken publicly about what my religious beliefs are. I’m not professed to be a Muslim.”

When the interviewer asked, “Would he call himself a Muslim now?” The former member of One Direction said, “I believe whatever people’s religious beliefs are is between them and whoever and whatever they’re practicing. For me, I have a spiritual belief of there is a god. Do I believe there’s hell? No, [sic]” he explained.

He further said, “I just want to keep it [his faith] between me and whatever I believe.” The singer also revealed that his parents introduced him to all aspects of the religion, but gave him the option to choose himself. “There’s definitely beautiful parts to every religion,” he said.

While we agree that religion is a personal matter, the Dusk Till Dawn singer has received mixed responses on his views.

While some believe that Zayn should not be judged for his words, others are not so forgiving and have taken his comments to heart.

Earlier, fans were delighted when photos of Zayn surfaced with girlfriend Gigi Hadid as they celebrated Eid together with his family. The singer has recently released his new single, Fingers, and is planning to announce a release date for his second album, following his 2016’s hit record Mind of Mine.
