Sarmad Khoosat’s controversial new venture, Zindagi Tamasha has been gaining quite the attention recently for the kind of content it revolves around. Over the weekend, the team released a number from the OST, Ajj Sik Mitraan Di, which is a rendition of a kalaam penned by Peer Syed Mehar Ali Shah, a revered sufi poet.

The poetry itself is the kind that is goosebumps-inducing, and with Saakin lending their musical talent to it, the whole piece has turned out to be one for the books. A haunting experience at its core, the song seems to transcend time and space, making you feel as though you’re in the middle of a crowd singing the Prophet’s (PBUH) praises.

The intensity of the poetry is such that one is forced to really sit and listen; this is not a kalaam that you will want to jive along to, this is the kind of music that will tug at your heartstrings, in a way that will make you listen and want to understand and absorb each word. It won’t be wrong to say that this rendition will make you dig deep inside of you and question your devotion.

A powerful naat that was written by Mehar Ali Shah and has been widely hailed as one of his finest works, Ajj Sk Mitraan Di is an experience in its entirety as mentioned before. With a sublime feel to it, this particular execution compliments the vibe of Zindagi Tamasha insanely well; moving, thought-provoking, and every bit as soul-stirring as it was probably meant to be.

The premise of Zindagi Tamasha makes this all the more impactful. The movie is centered around a naat-khwaan, Rahat Khawaja, who is isolated by the world after some discretion of his becomes public.

The whole composition has been put together by Saakin for Khoosat Films, and will be featured on the original soundtrack for Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha which won the prestigious Kim Ji-Seok Award at the Busan International Film Festival last month. Listen to it here:
