After mingling with Bollywood bigwigs, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, walked across Wagah Border to spend three days in Pakistan. From star Mahira Khan to cricket captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, he met some of the best Pakistan has to offer. Sadiq’s six-day visit to India and Pakistan is aimed to promote business and cultural ties between the two countries and the United Kingdom.

“Like London, Pakistan is home to incredible film talent. It’s been a privilege to meet so many inspirational young Pakistanis, like Mahira Khan on my trip,” tweeted Sadiq.

The Mayor of London referred to Momina Mustehsan as one of Pakistan’s brightest stars!

“A role model to millions of young Pakistani women – Momina Mustehsan is one of Pakistan’s brightest stars. Great to meet her in Lahore yesterday,” wrote Sadiq.

“From Oscar award-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy to actor Osman Khalid Butt – #LondonIsOpen to the best and brightest Pakistani talent,” tweeted the mayor.

“Londoners of Pakistani origin make a huge contribution to our city. Great to catch up with double Oscar and winner of seven Emmy Awards Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, whilst here in Pakistan,” Sadiq tweeted after meeting the award-winning director of A Girl in the River.

The mayor played some cricket with Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Mushtaq Ahmed.

Sadiq revealed in a tweet that he spoke to the cricket legends about “how cricket can help inspire and change the lives of young people in Pakistan and London.”

The mayor was invited as the guest of honour to the Pakistan launch of Pakistani author Kamila Shamsie’s new novel Home Fire, at the British Council library in Karachi.
