With rave reviews marking its entry into cinemas, Cake saw a much-anticipated opening at the box office. However, with the critics on its side, has it been able to win its audience over too?

According to independent box office websites and sources, the film starring Aamina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed, and Adnan Malik opened to a better than average collection, with a reported amount of PKR 30 Lakh on its first day.

However, its first-day collections were soon surpassed by the weekend rush as Cake saw a great increase in its popularity, and ended up earning an approximate amount of more than PKR 65 Lakh on Saturday and Sunday.

The film, which has reportedly done better in urban areas overall, has had a similar three-day opening total to Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, and thus, does indicate a strong growth at the box office. However, for Cake to remain afloat in competition with SKTKS, Baaghi 2, and Hichki, the film needs strong numbers over weekdays as well to ensure profitability.

Will the film manage to beat Bollywood and prove that Pakistani content can get the ball rolling for cinema collections? Time will tell!
