Ranbir Kapoor is riding high on new assignments and is all set to star in Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) upcoming venture Shamshera.

While Ranbir will be playing a dacoit in the film, YRF has now disclosed that Sanjay Dutt will be playing a negative role in the film. It will be interesting to see the two actors finally share screen space since Ranbir plays Sanjay Dutt in the veteran actor’s upcoming biopic titled Sanju.

Talking about the project, director Karan Malhotra told the Indian press, “Shamshera is a highly ferocious and fearless character in the film. Therefore, his nemesis, the villain had to be even more fierce and monumental in every aspect. Who’s better than Sanjay sir to give us that impact on screen?”

We couldn’t agree more.

Shamshera will be Sanjay’s first project with YRF. “My father and Yash (Chopra) uncle were very close friends and now that I’m doing my first YRF film, it is an extremely emotional moment for me. When I heard Karan’s idea to cast Ranbir against me, I thought it was just brilliant. I’m looking forward to shooting this incredibly exciting film, my second with the hugely talented Karan Malhotra,” Sanjay told an Indian publication.

Shamshera is set to go on floor by the end of this year.
