The second Pakistan Film Festival in New York began on Saturday and in attendance were some of the most influential stars of the Pakistani film industry along with Pakistan’s Representative to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi, who also organised the first-ever Pakistan film festival in New York in December 2016.

On Saturday, 7 Din Mohabbat In, Parchi, Verna and Cake were screened, while on Sunday Na Band Na Baraati, Punjab Nahi Jaongi, and Lala Begum will be exhibited.

 

 

Oscar award winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy will also participate in the festival’s special segment titled ‘Beyond the Oscars,’ in which she will discuss her present and future work as well as challenges faced by Pakistan’s film industry. Her animated film, 3 Bahadur was screened during the First Film Festival in New York in December 2016.

 

 

The festival will close with a performance by Zeb Bangash, and her band Sandaraa. This initiative will provide the opportunity for Pakistan to showcase their talent in front of diplomats from 193 countries at the UN. The festival will be followed by a reception on July 9 at the UN.
