After receiving praise from the critics and ruling the box office, Ali Zafar’s Teefa In Trouble has added another feather to its cap as it officially released on Netflix globally on Sunday.

Although the film remains unavailable on the Pakistani version of the online streaming service, it is now available for streaming in 25 different countries. Previously, the film was also screened again in Islamabad on popular demand, after it had completed its initial run.

Meanwhile, the director of the film, Ahsan Rahim is also seeking a theatrical release of the film in China, which sources reveal may soon get a green signal.

The film was also screened to over 30 Chinese mainstream distributors at the Silk Road International Film Festival (SRIFF) in October, where Ali Zafar was invited to initiate a conversation about enhancing cinematic ties between Pakistan and China. Ali — alongside Vice President of China Film Group Corporation, Mr. Ping and Chairperson of SRIFF, Mr. Xiaotian — spoke about the rapidly growing Pakistani film industry and the potential for investment and growth in it.

“These are very important times for our industry with a long way to go to really achieve our full potential. We welcome all dialogue and initiatives to enable us to realise this full potential,” Ali said at the festival.

Teefa In Trouble revolves around the eponymous Teefa (Ali Zafar), a witty lower middle-class Lahori boy, who works in the world of crime for the shady business-dealer and local gangster Butt Sahab (Mehmood Aslam), and Anya – a bold and opinionated Pakistani girl living in Poland. How their two worlds collide and what happens next is what the film is about.
