Paris Fashion Week

Following a number of fashion weeks in London, New York and Milan, the international fashion circuit has finally reached the grand runway extravaganza at the City of Lights — Paris — this October.

With some of the biggest fashion players in the business, the line-up at Paris Fashion Week was impressive. However, it also set the trends for the next season. Several key styles were already seen in the previous fashion weeks; some evolved into more fresh takes, while a few newer ones hit the spotlight.

Here are 5  trends that you should take note of:

1. Dream denim

It is highly unlikely to wear denim on denim in Karachi, unless we wait for the coldest season but denim is all the rage now. From jeans, shorts, skirts, jackets, trench coats to even bags, it is en vogue. And the surprise is that you will stand out if you will pile all the denim pieces at once, à la Schiaparelli, Chloé, Courrèges, and Givenchy.

2. Suit it up!

A beautifully tailored suit is always a good addition to your wardrobe. Monochrome works best for formal settings but for a spring evening, the best bets are vibrant shades, be it floral, neon or warm hues. The Victoria Beckham runway is a great example to take notes.

3. Bold cinch

Never shy away from putting a belt on in 2023 and if we follow Louis Vuitton, then go for supersized waist belts. Whether big or small, cinching your waist with a perfect accent is the go-to trend in the upcoming season. The key is to not use belts as an afterthought but style your look based on the belt you are going to wear to keep it as a highlight.

4. Bling it on

It is time to give a break to athleisure wardrobes that were popularized in the pandemic and go full-on disco! Yes, flashy sequins are back and recent HUM TV awards were also a witness to that! Get inspiration to try the trend with glamorous, full-shine designs shown by Isabel Marant, Valentino, Givenchy, and Ludovic de Saint Sernin.

5. Shape shifters

Not very practical fashion but structured dresses and gowns are key pieces to make you stand out. Sculptural skirts were a key component at Loewe, Christian Dior, Rochas, Acne Studios, and Lanvin this season. If you cannot pull off a grand look then try to incorporate it partly in a top, jacket or a skirt.
