As cinemas have started screening films in Pakistan, Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza are all set to release first local film — Khel Khel Mein — in the theaters. The film is slated to release on November 19th, and the dynamic duo has revealed its first teaser to build the hype.

Khel Khel Mein stars Sajal Aly, Bilal Abbas Khan, Marina Khan, Manzar Sehbai, Javed Sheikh, Samina Ahmed, Naveed Raza, Reham Rafiq along with several new faces. It is a story inspired by true events as the teaser showed mass migration and hysteria with words “50 years of mistrust, memories and myths”. Nabeel has earlier revealed that it is a “drama/historical” and has used hashtag 1971 in the caption of its motion poster.

This is a clear indication that the film broaches the subject of East Pakistan, fall of Dhaka or Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The teaser also reveals a special appearance by Sheheryar Munawar. It appears that a theater group head by Sajal and Bilal will give a performance dissecting the myths surrounding the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 as the theme of the film suggests that “if history was taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.”

According to the official Twitter handle of Khel Khel Mein, the story is “a heartwarming drama depicting a youthful take on tragic historical events. Lies may make enemies out of brothers. The wise know the truth can heal all wounds.”

Khel Khel Mein is directed by Nabeel Qureshi and produced by his partner, Fizza Ali Meerza, under the banner of Filmwala Pictures. The story, screenplay and dialogues are also by this talented duo. The music of the film is by Shani Arshad, Shuja Haider, Asrar Shah, and we can’t wait to listen to the tunes.

Despite the pandemic and its adverse impact on filmmakers and producers, the production quality of the venture looks top-notch and we are looking forward to the performances. It is refreshing that this is not a typical boy meets girl story, rather a new way to educate the youth through entertainment.
