Another good news for Pakistan as the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) officially announced Mahira Khan as their national goodwill ambassador.

According to UNHCR official website, Mahira spoke at the appointment ceremony, which was held on Wednesday in Islamabad and shared her feelings.

“I feel privileged to have been chosen to serve this noble cause,” Mahira said adding, “I feel proud that my country is one of the most generous countries of the world. By becoming UNHCR National Goodwill Ambassador, I wish to stand behind such incredible acts of hospitality and humanity. More needs to be done to support countries and communities which host refugees.”

Prior to this appointment, she visited Afghan refugees in Peshawar last year as part of a high-profile UN delegation. She has been supporting UNHCR’s activities for the last few years and has remained a strong voice for Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
