Musician Farhad Humayun has recently voiced his concern over the alleged plagiarism of his song Neray Aah in a recent TV commercial of Coca-Cola which announced the upcoming season of Coke Studio 13. The singer has served a legal notice to Coca-Cola for violating intellectual property rights.

Farhad took to social media and shared how the TVC’s version is not like the original film song or the Coke Studio Season 5 version which was performed by Rachel Viccaji and Overload. It appears to be a blatant copy of his band, Overload’s tune.

“Stealing so blatantly & shamelessly – They’ve lifted the groove, melody, stoccato vocalization, accents, tempo from my song, not the film version nor the coke studio version (which is also my arrangement). This has to stop!” Farhad wrote.

Here is the Coca-Cola television commercial featuring Meesha Shafi’s vocal. Meesha started her singing career with the band Overload.

Farhad is disappointed how eerily similar the two versions are and has resorted to legal channels to seek justice. Here is Overload’s version of the song released in 2011:

Neray Aah is a song that originally featured in Syed Noor’s 1998 film, Choorian and was sung by Saira Naseem. You can also check out its Coke Studio version here:
