A key aspect of fashion weeks is to highlight fashion trends the upcoming season is to bring. Similarly, PLBW’17 too brought about a range of trends winter brides should keep in mind when deciding on a bridal outfit.

Known for her craft and elegant take on fashion, Sania Maskatiya’s Samarkand reigned the runway this season, bringing in the kind of bridal fashion we needed to see more of! We saw bright colours, dramatic silhouettes, traditional kaam that went beyond the monotony of silver embellishments, and so much more that made Samarkand a sight for sore eyes.

Speaking to the designer, we got a lowdown of the major bridal trends she has focused on, as well as predicts are here to stay.

Jewel Tones

While neutral palettes dominated by gold and silver are all the rage, it’s about time darker tones made a comeback. We saw a bit of both in Sania’s collection, but definitely loved the opulence of jewel tones more. Look for ruby reds, garnet, sapphires and emeralds in your choices; even the golds in Sania’s collection reminded us of exotic smoky topaz.

Dramatic silhouettes

A simple shirt and lehnga will no longer do in this season of drama! It’s all about making a statement with farshi lehngas, mermaid skirts and peplum tops. And when it come to drama, there’s nothing like flaunting your best assets, whether it’s a toned midriff or a sexy back!

Net

sania

Net has made a great comeback recently, and Sania took things a step further with a chic net skirt that was paired with a heavy shirt and dupatta. It stood out in a class of its own!

Double dupattas

Another one of the elegant looks to try this season: two dupattas when layered right look grand and traditional, just the kind of look brides like to go for.

Note: The collection is up for viewing tomorrow, Saturday October 21, at the Sania Maskatiya Karachi flagship store. You can visit for a closer look at the gorgeous outfits and pick yours to order.
