With the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in India already being marked by controversies and protests, Bollywood stars have been trying their best to prove otherwise. However, while celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, and Aishwarya Rai posed in photo-ops with the infamous leader, a few prominent stars remained absent in a sign of boycott.

According to Indian media reports, the three big Khans of Bollywood – Salman, Aamir, and Shah Rukh – decided to keep away from the events being held in honour of the Israeli PM due to his nefarious track-record of atrocities against Palestinians.

Although none of the actors in question have given any statement about their decision or if in fact, it was even a conscious decision, reports have suggested the action was taken in order to not hurt the sentiments of Indian Muslims, who have strong opinions against ties between the two nations.

Recently, Benjamin Netanyahu –in a bid to bring ‘Brand Israel’ to India – declared in a meeting with Bollywood stars that he ‘wants Bollywood in Israel, and they [Israel] are putting their money where their mouth is.’
