Winter weekend calls for a break from daily chores and a chance to unwind after a tedious and tiresome week. It is the time of the year when you can indulge yourself and drink your favourite hot beverage, eat dry fruit, and binge-watch an engrossing series. However, if your hectic schedule curbs you from binge-watching a series we have got you covered. We bring you a list of three shows on Netflix which comprise of only a single season so that you can binge-watch the entire thing over a weekend without dreading that you won’t be able to finish off.

1. Wednesday

Wednesday is a supernatural comedy series and is the spinoff the iconic film The Addams Family. The series follows the life of Wednesday Addams, a persistent and curious teenager and an emotionally reserved soul. The series begins with Wednesday’s parents dropping her to the Nevermore Academy, where they once studied. Wednesday who is determined to escape from the Academy refuses to settle down in her new school. However, fate has other plans for her as she finds herself surrounded with a mass-murder mystery, a monster that threatens the safety of the students in the school, a new-founded psychic ability, and lastly the job to prove her father innocent after he was framed for murder, 25-years back.

The series has many twists and keeps you engaged till the last minute. The humor and sarcasm is well knit in the series and all the characters manage to make their presence felt, adding their own unique flavour to the series.

2. Extraordinary Attorney Woo

The sixteen-episode series is about an autistic girl Woo Young Woo. She is raised by her father in a protective environment who tries his best to shield his daughter from the world. Young Woo is shown to have a keen interest in law and whales. She lands a job in a leading law firm in her country after passing the bar  exam. The premise of each episode is about a different case that the firm has to handle. Meanwhile, the plot unwraps with each episode as the viewer is given a more in-depth glimpse of the life of an autistic person. The subject is handled very sensitively with profound emphasis given on Young Woo’s personal relationships and the professional obstacles that she has to navigate through. The story is riveting and interesting to watch with engaging sub-plots.

3.Maid

Maid is a stand-alone series on Netflix. The story highlights the struggle of a woman named Alexandra who escapes an abusive relationship and strives hard to protect her toddler daughter whilst earning a living for herself. Alexandra dreams to become a writer but after coming out of an abusive relationship, she is trying to deal with her dysfunctional family. She puts her dream to a pause to earn a living for her daughter. She gets a job cleaning houses for Value Maids. The story is beautifully sewn together, capturing the struggle of a woman who is heartbroken yet determined to pave her own path and make ends meet for her daughter.
