Wrestler turned Hollywood A-Lister, Dwayne Johnson, has managed to top Forbes’ annual list of the highest paid actors from around the world.

The Jumanji and Fast and the Furious star had ranked in at no. 2 last year, however he inched his way to the top, collecting $89.4 million between June 1, 2018, and June 1, 2019. In doing so, he toppled over George Clooney, who seems to be missing from this years list.

Johnson was seen with Jason Statham in the latest Fast and the Furious movie, Hobbs and Shaw

Talking to Forbes in 2018, Johnson said, “It has to be audience first. What does the audience want, and what is the best scenario that we can create that will send them home happy?” emphasizing the importance of appealing to the audience. Seems like he has gotten the formula down to the t; he has managed to reach a point where he demands a pay formula as close to the famed twenty-twenty deal ($20 million upfront and 20% of gross profit, as reported by Forbes) of the past as no other star does these days.

According to reports, Johnson will collect an upfront salary of up to $23.5 million for the upcoming Jumanji: The Next Level, and he commands up to 15% of the pool from his high-grossing franchise movies. For his part in HBO’s Ballers, he is paid a whopping $700,000 per episode, while he also rakes in upwards of seven figures in royalties from his line of clothing, shoes and headphones with Under Armour.

Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. round up the top 3 on the list, managing to rake in huge numbers for their contribution to the mega-hit Avengers movies; Avengers: Endgame, grossed $2.796 billion at the box office.

Bollywood mega-star Akshay Kumar and the iconic Jackie Chan close off the top 5 on the list. You can check out the list here.
