As tension grows between India and Pakistan, The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has spoken up against working with Pakistani artists multiple times. Recently, the body has warned two Indian show promoters — Karl Kalra and Nirmal Dhaliwal — to cancel their shows with Pakistani artist Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

FWICE wrote in the warning letter issued to the two that “we have received a poster where you are promoting the concert of Pakistani artist, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in USA and Canada from 4th October, 2019 to 20th October, 2019.”

“We have already given our directive that no Indian artist/singer/ dancer/ anchor/ performer, last but not the least, promoter would work with Pakistan nationals and Pakistan artists, in view of the current alarming situation between the two countries,” the letter clearly stated.

Further, FWICE asked them to cancel their contracts immediately with the singer.

“It is therefore our humble request to both of you to immediately cancel the above shows. In case if you don’t cancel the shows of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and go against the sentiments of Indians, no indian artist/ singer/ dancer/ anchor/ performer/ promoter would ever work with you anywhere in the entire world,” it stated.

Earlier, the FWICE banned singer Mika Singh from any performance, recording, playback singing and acting in India ‘irrevocably forever’ after his visit to Pakistan last month. Bollywood star Salman Khan  also canceled a US tour with Mika Singh over the singer’s trip to Karachi to perform at a wedding. It also asked Diljit Dosanjh to cancel his US show promoted by a Pakistani national.
