Despite many attempts to reopen cinemas in Pakistan with strict SOPs, there were no clear indications that new Pakistani films will release anytime soon. Recently, Fahad Mustafa tweeted an encouraging message highlighting the release of the James Bond movie and filmmaker Nabeel Qureshi also seemed restless as he asked when will cinemas reopen?

On October 16, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reassessed restrictions imposed on different parts of the country due to COVID-19.

While movie theatres opened in eight cities last month, cinemas across Sindh, including Karachi, remained closed. Only Gilgit, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Quetta, and Peshawar were allowed to reopen cinemas according to the decision. However, looks like the wait is over as Karachi is also set to open its cinemas as well.

“We are thrilled to hear the NCOC’s decision to reopen cinemas. A massive congratulations to everyone in the industry upon the announcement. We are excited to release our titles “Quaid-e- Azam Zindabad” & “Khel Khel Main” whose openings were delayed due to covid lockdown!” read an official notice by Filmwala Pictures following the decision.

“Finally,” tweeted Nabeel Qureshi who looks forward to releasing the two highly anticipated movies.

“Back to entertain you,” shared Fizza Ali Meerza.
